The Belgian prosecutor's office detained four people suspected of links to terrorism in the country's western city of Charleroi, local media reported Saturday.

Two Detained in Belgium Over Possible Links to Paris Terror Attacks

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The detentions were conducted during search operations in the city, the Belgian RTBF broadcaster said, citing a source in the prosecutor's office. The detained were reportedly planning to leave for Syria.

The suspects were detained for questioning, the prosecutors are considering their arrest.

According to the source, the operation has nothing to do with the November Paris attacks that claimed lives of over 130 people.
