BELGRADE (Sputnik) – Earlier this week, the country's national parliament started debates on a vote of confidence in the current government, initiated by the Djukanovic government itself, after some sections of the ruling coalition said it had lost political mandate.
"Whatever the result of the vote of confidence in the government, Montenegro’s independence, stability and Euro-Atlantic and European integration should not be called into question," the prime minister said during the third round of discussions in parliament.
The small alpine nation with an army of around 2,000 troops was officially invited to join NATO last month. This led to fierce resistance from some opposition factions and calls for Djukanovic to step down.
