French senator Yves Pozzo di Borgo was prompted to remind the president of Bulgaria that Russia is part of Europe.

Earlier, during a PACE session, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev claimed that Crimea is part of Ukraine, and Ukraine itself is a part of Europe.

"The Bulgarian president says that Ukraine is a part of Europe. I hope he didn’t forget that Russia is a part of Europe too," di Borgo retorted via Twitter.

Crimea rejoined Russia in March 2014, after more than 96 percent of voters in a referendum held among the local electorate were cast in favor of seceding from Ukraine and joining Russia.
