Prosecutor Warns About Possible Terrorist Attack in Belgium on January 15

The Belgian federal prosecutor warned that a terrorist attack may occur on January 15, one year after thwarting an attack in Verviers.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Belgium’s federal prosecutor, Frederic Van Leeuw, warned that terrorist attacks may take place in the country on January 15, the first anniversary of a foiled attack in the city of Verviers.

"There is the risk, that someone is trying to commit an attack on January 15 in our country," Leeuw was quoted as saying by the local Le Meuse newspaper.

On January 15, 2015 a group of Islamists in Belgium's eastern city Verviers, some of whom had fought alongside Daesh in Syria, planned to attack police personnel. During the operation, security forces killed two suspects and detained one man.
