UK media accused hardliners in the Labour Party on Wednesday of plotting a coup to oust moderate members from the shadow government and the parliament, according to a plan allegedly seen by the Daily Mail newspaper.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The tabloid said it got hold of a blueprint entitled "Taking control of the Party," which it claimed contained strategies to vet candidates for parliamentary seats and boost the status of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

UK Labour Party Rocked by 'Judas' Letter to Lawmakers Over Corbyn Support
NEC is Labour’s managing body, reportedly dominated by supporters of the party’s far-left leader Jeremy Corbyn. Its members currently have limited say on policy-making.

According to the document, the party management should be consulted for all policy decisions, allowing Corbyn to sideline shadow cabinet ministers and parliamentary members.

The Daily Mail understands that the plan was inked by Jon Lansman, who heads an organization called Momentum that unites Corbyn supporters.

Corbyn was elected the leader of the opposition in September on an anti-war and anti-welfare cuts platform, following the resignation of Ed Miliband after his defeat in the May elections.

The leftist leader has been under fire from the ruling Conservatives, some of his party members and the UK media. In early December, Corbyn drew fury from the Tories for opposing plans to bomb Syria.
