BERLIN (Sputnik) – On Saturday, Austrian police stated that several European capitals had received a warning from a "friendly intelligence service" about possible terrorist attacks during the holiday season.
"We will have about 150 police officers more than last year, we will confirm the exact number at the day of the event," Redlich told RIA Novosti.
According to Redlich, some 750 law enforcement personnel guarded the square in 2014.
Earlier in the day, a German Interior Ministry spokesperson told Sputnik that the security measures in Germany were revised following the Paris attacks in November and "are continuously adjusted to match the situation."
On November 13, a series of shootings and suicide bombings took place across Paris, leaving 130 people killed.
