MOSCOW(Sputnik) — Slovak parliament approved, on Tuesday, amendments to the country's constitution to prevent terror attacks, local media reported.
According to Slovak information website Webnoviny, 95 members of parliament supported the move, while 25 voted against it.
The amendments are expected to extend the detention period for terrorist suspects from 48 hours to four days and the period available for the court to decide whether a suspect should be released, from 72 hours to up to six days.
The amendments to the constitution are expected to come into force on January 1, after being signed by the country's president.
Security measures have been stepped up across Europe after the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris, in which 130 people were killed.
