Francois Hollande: French Umbrella for Antiterrorist Front
BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Paris insists on the need to cooperate with Turkey to fight terrorism and to resolve the conflict in Syria, French President Francois Hollande said Sunday.

"We need cooperation with Turkey to fight smuggling, to combat terrorism, as well as to find a solution in Syria," Hollande told reporters before the start of a meeting between heads of the European Union and Turkey in Brussels.

Earlier on Sunday, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said that allowing the incident with Turkey downing the Russian Su-24 plane affect the process of the Syrian settlement negatively would be a “terrible mistake.” Both Russia and Turkey participate in the so-called Vienna process on the Syria peace settlement.
