Paris Attacks Perpetrator May Have Fled to Syria

Fugitive Salah Abdeslam, one of the perpetrators of the Paris attacks, could have fled to Syria from Belgium, local media reported Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper, Abdeslam stayed in the Schaarbeek commune of Brussels before fleeing with help of supporters, using safe houses and secret transport flights.

A series of coordinated attack in the French capital claimed lives of 130 and injured more than 360 people on November 13.

Belgium remains on high-terror alert since the attacks in Paris, as a number of the perpetrators, including the planner Abdelhamid Abaaoud and Abdeslam, were citizens or residents of the country.
