Police in the French prefecture of Ile-de-France prolonged a ban on public gatherings and demonstrations in the region beginning Thursday and lasting until Sunday, police administration announced.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – "Gatherings on public roads are prohibited in the departments of the defense and security area of Paris from Thursday, November 19… until Sunday, November 22," the prefecture said in a statement issued overnight.

Show attendance at "high capacity" halls are not prohibited "in principle," but event organizers must reinforce security measures, particularly with entry controls and checks, according to the police headquarters.

Due to a deadly November 13 attack, Paris region has been on the highest alert status, stepping up security nationwide.

At least 129 people were killed and over 350 injured in a series of coordinated suicide bombings and shootings in Paris last week.
