MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The decision was made at a meeting between Belgium's interior minister Jan Jambon and the heads of Brussels' 19 municipalities, the Derniere Heure newspaper said.
The politicians increased the numbers of the daylight rapid response police force from 20 to 40, and from 15 to 30 for the nightshift team.
Information flow between federal and municipal authorities will also be improved, the newspaper quoted Jambon.
Belgian police mobilized its rapid response team in operations across Brussels on Saturday and Sunday, arresting several suspects, two of whom were held over terrorism charges.
Operations continued on Monday and Tuesday in Brussels' Molenbeek district in a search for Salah Abdeslam, a local resident and suspected planner of Friday's attacks in Paris.
Terrorists attacked several venues around Paris on Friday, leaving 129 people dead and over 350 injured. The Islamic State terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks. All attackers so far have been identified as Belgian or French citizens.
