MOSCOW (Sputnik) — There will be more armed officers patrolling the streets of London ensuring citizen security following the recent deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, the Metropolitan Police commissioner said Tuesday.
"The first thing I've done is to order that there will be more firearms officers available every day in the streets <…> It's my job to put in place plans to keep people safe," Bernard Hogan Howe told LBC radio.
On November 13, Paris was hit by a series of attacks conducted by at least eight extremists carrying automatic weapons and wearing explosive belts. The attacks occurred at venues across Paris, killing some 130 people and injuring over 350, at restaurants, the Bataclan concert hall and in the vicinity of the Stade de France stadium.
On November 16, British Prime Minister David Cameron declared that seven terrorist plots had been foiled in the country over the last six months.
