MOSCOW (Sputnik) – London's second-largest international airport, Gatwick, has not introduced any changes to its safety measures despite the UK government's concerns following the crash of the Russian A321 plane, a Gatwick spokesman told Sputnik on Thursday.
"At this limited time there are no changes [in the security measures taken by the airport]. The government, the Department for Transport would issue the advisory of any security changes at UK airports, and Gatwick would follow any advisories or changes that the Department for Transport suggested," the spokesman stated.
The UK government's announcement was preceded by a series of US media reports that a US military satellite had detected a heat flash over the Sinai Peninsula at the time of the Russian airliner crash, which could indicate that an explosion had taken place on board the airplane.
The catastrophe claimed the lives of all 224 people on board, including 25 children.
