The Internet has been flooded with the messages and photos of the devastation in London's Lambeth district following a Halloween party called Scumoween: A Nightmare on Scum Street which was due to feature underground electronic music.

People first gathered on Black Prince Road at Albert Embankment, before dispersing down Lambeth Road on to Lambeth High Street and nearby Whitgift Street, where the event was supposed to run from 8pm on Halloween — lasting all weekend.

The organizers attempted to warn the ravers away from any confrontations with the police.
In a warning to those due to attend, they said: "This party is going ahead, stay peaceful, stay calm. Patience and numbers is in our favour. Do not antagonize the police.”

"We don't need to. At the end of the day we want to leave them remembering our good attitudes, we just came to dance, we are not their enemy."
The warning, however, was of little help.

Trouble started around midnight, and at 3am police reported that the disturbances were still “very much ongoing.”
It is not yet clear how many people have been arrested. Four police officers have been treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to the local media.
Footage from the scene showed an angry mob throwing objects at police lines as they chanted "scum" and "pigs."
Police, in turn, tweeted photos of what had been thrown at them.
