    Some 100 Gypsies Burn Cars, Block Railways in Eastern France

    About 100 members of a French nomadic community are rioting in commune of Moirans in the French department of Isere, local media reported on Tuesday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the local BFMTV television channel, they are blocking the local railway station and have burned five vehicles and a nearby restaurant.

    The protesters are demanding the release of two members of their community to allow them to attend a funeral. The media outlet added that a hundred policemen have been deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control.

    At the same time, there is unrest in a prison in the Savoie department where the inmates in question are being detained. At least 20 prisoners broke cell locks and set a corridor on fire.
