The Belarusian Central Election Committee announced that voter turnout at the Belarus presidential election surpassed 86 percent of registered voters.

Lukashenko Leading in Belarus Presidential Election With 80% of Votes
MINSK (Sputnik) – Voter turnout at the Belarus presidential election surpassed 86 percent of registered voters, the Central Election Committee announced Monday.

A total of 86.75 percent of the nearly 7 million registered voters have cast their ballots on Sunday.

In the Belarusian capital of Minsk, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko gained over 65 percent of the votes.

"Say the Truth" campaign activist Tatyana Korotkevich is second with nearly 7 percent of the votes, followed by Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Sergei Gaidukevich with 3.35 percent and head of the Belarusian Cossacks organization Nikolai Ulakhovich with 2.74 percent.

Nationwide, Lukashenko is ahead of other candidates with over 80 percent of the votes.
