Over 480,000 Undocumented Migrants Arrive in Europe by Sea in 2015 – IOM
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Yulia Shamporova The European Union needs to find common approaches to tighten immigration laws for each member state amid an unfolding refugee crisis in the region, Director of Migration and Mobility Policies at the European Policy Centre Yves Pascouau said Tuesday.

"The EU needs to develop common approaches to tighten immigration laws for each of the county member… The difficulty for the EU countries in this situation [is to find a] common framework in taking decisions obligatory for all of the members," Pascouau said at a video press conference on the EU migration situation.

Earlier in September, Brussels proposed the redistribution of about 160,000 people across the bloc and the allocation of emergency funds to the countries affected most by the migrant influx.

Many EU member states introduced their own measures to deal with the crisis, reinstating border controls and deploying military reinforcements on their frontiers.

The ongoing migrant crisis in Europe, with over half a million people fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and North Africa to seek refuge in Europe, is the worst since World War II.
