In, Out or On the Fence: Where UK Politicians Stand in Brexit Debate
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Britain will to hold a referendum by the end of 2017 on whether it will stay within the European Union. Before the vote, Cameron is negotiating terms of the country's alliance with the bloc, including migration and commerce.

Out of five scenarios for the future of UK-EU relations, 61.4 percent in the poll chose to "remain in the EU, but with specific powers transferred back from Brussels to Westminster," which is the highest rating for a scenario offered in the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) questionnaire.

"These results show that British businesses remain determined to see a recalibrated relationship between the UK and the rest of the European Union, with more powers exercised from Westminster rather than Brussels," John Longworth, the BCC director general, commented on the poll.

The majority of those polled said that they wanted Cameron to focus on the ability of the United Kingdom to block EU legislation the country deems unfit and to concentrate on clear commercial safeguards for Britain within the union, according to the poll, which gathered responses from nearly 4,000 UK businesses.

Less than a third of those surveyed said they were familiar with the specific terms of Cameron’s EU-renegotiation package.
