West Signals U-Turn Over Syria, Seeks Dialogue With Russia

The former president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, has called for dialogue with Russia in an effort to support the government of Syria to defend itself against ISIL, following a similar call from the White House in what is seen as a U-turn by the West.

Two years after both the US and the UK dropped plans to launch a bombing strike against the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria over claims he was using chemical weapons against opposition forces, there are growing calls for military assistance to be given to Assad by the West. Sarkozy told Le Parisien newspaper:

"We must build the conditions for the creation of a liberation army of Syria and rely on neighbors as well as more dialogue with Russia and Putin."

It follows a similar call from the White House whose spokesman, Josh Earnest, said President Barack Obama's administration was willing to hold "tactical, practical discussions" with Moscow on operations in Syria and the fight against the Islamic State group.

Since civil war in Syria began in 2011, tens of thousands have died and millions have been displaced – leading to one of the worst refugee crises in living memory. In 2013, the US called for military action against Assad, but airstrikes were withheld following warning from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

    Assad, Opposition and Hard Feelings

There were calls in 2013 for airstrikes against Assad’s government, when allegations emerged that he had used chemical weapons against opposition forces. However, Putin said it was "ludicrous'' that Assad would use them at a time when his forces were gaining ground against the rebels.

In August 2013, the US Congress was due to vote on military airstrikes against Assad, but this was postponed following the defeat in the UK of Prime Minister David Cameron’s motion to parliament calling for military action over Syria.

However, there were widespread reports of the CIA being on the ground in both Turkey and Syria channeling aid to the opposition.

In October 2014, the Pentagon admitted that one of the airdrops of weapons intended for Kurds in the besieged Syrian town of Kobani almost certainly ended up in the hands of ISIL.

Ironically, after years of bitter acrimony against Assad, the West is now poised to offer assistance to him in an effort to pick up the fight against ISIL.

Considering that Assad knows what the Outlaw Empire's real policy goal is regardless of its rhetoric--total reorganization of Syria's government and institutions and elimination of Assad--what will he say about this feint aside from what he already has?
    • Capt'nSkippy !!!
How can Russia be called into a intervention by such a gutless and callous mob of sh*t as U.S. and E.U. for the intolerable treatment to Russia and a septic lead war??? Everything that has been done to Russia has been headed by the disgusting sh*t of the septic U.S. NATO agreement and the programed E.U. to obey its sanctions and assault on Russia. Russia needs to send a signal back alright, A VERY BIG MIDDLE FINGER!!! Do not get involved in a FALSE FLAG!!! Think about it. The ONLY two major countries NOT involved an any major conflict IS Russia AND China. SOOO....................what countries would be left IF they get involved into a propagandist war CREATED by the SEPTIC U.S. GOVERNMENT and the leashed E.U. lapdogs???

Some of us are presented with 2 very differing accounts concerning "Why?" over 10 million Syrians have fled their homes? 1 story focusses upon Assad as being the prime cause. And the other accounting focusses upon ISIS/ISIL and Western-Supported Anti-Assad rebel-revolutionaries - most of whom are foreign-born, foreign-trained mercenaries, along with air strikes upon Syria from several Western nations..
    • What is seen as a U-turn by the west?

As this is the west we are talking about it wouild be wise to look at it as a U-boat move and not a U-turn move.
Don't matter what they say, their plan is the opposite from what they say according to the western history.

US leadership is made up by arrogant idiots: after four years of suffering, war, killing, mutilating people, now they realize (probably because of the reactions to the refugee invasion of EU) the mess they have created. Do they plan to compensate the victims?

MCR, Excelent comment MCR. I have posted several times about "mistranslation" by Sputnik. I read a lot of the same about some split or fracture in relations between teh EU and US, but the EU is still relentless with sanctions and anti-Russia propaganda.

Now, I read articles about the EU and US both saying cooperation with Russia is needed. It's coordinated propaganda, in my opinion, to try and deflect accountability with WW III starts and people start dying in the EU and in the US.

I don't want to hear anymore talk. I want to see action, sanctions against Iran and Russia lifted completely. I want to see Russia's effort supported in Syria so Assad regains control over 100% of Syria. I want Israel, the US and all other countries to STOP bombing Syria and violating Syrian airspace. There are other actions in Yemen, Ukraine and regarding China that need immediate reversal. None of this "U-turn" crap means anything until the West STOPS behaving like the devil himself. That's my view on it.

      Neocons don't know anything else.

      They know only one trick.

Bite, bite ,and if that doesn't work bite frome the rear, bite from the side, bite from the top, bite from the bottom. Bite, bite, bite....

When the neocons fail, they will try the same again, and again, and again...

They simply know nothing else, they want nothing else.

They will try until they succumb to oblivion.

Sarko is an unindicted war criminal over the destruction of Libya. He will do whatever he thinks will keep him from donning an orange jump suit.

The Western politicians pretend they are not doing anything wrong and I have no words that exceed those from God, so I present them here.

      Works of the Flesh:
"19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,[c] fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders,[d] drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."
      Galatians 5:19-21

      Fruit of the Spirit:
"22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law."
      Galatians 5:22-25

      Reprobate Mind:
"28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them."
      Romans 1:28-32

The US needs to lift all sanctions against anyone, North Korea, Cuba, Syria, Iran, Russia, everyone. There are so many sanctioned countries, I don't know them all. Stop the hate. This would be the greatest gesture of peace and reconciliation the US could make. The sanctions aren't working. The only "positive" result of the sanctions is as with the Gaza blockade from Israel. It forces money into different hands, hands that support the people who support the sanctions or blockade. But everyone else suffers from the foolishness, and the people would benefit from the lifting of all US and EU sanctions that are in place.
