21-year-old Syrian migrant was attacked and stubbed to death several times with a knife in downtown of Sofia, Bulgarian capital.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Syrian migrant has been killed, two others have been wounded in Sofia's downtown area, the Bulgarian BGNES web portal reported Sunday.

According to the news outlet, the 21-year-old deceased was attacked and stubbed to death several times with a knife by unidentified assailants.

The incident occurred at the crossroads between Tsar Simeon and Knyaz Boris I streets, an area where lots of migrants from the Middle East and North Africa have resided for decades.

On the same day, two individuals were injured near the central synagogue. Both of them were taken to the hospital.

At present, local police officers are trying to establish whether the crime was recorded by the CCTV cameras of the nearby buildings.
