Luxembourg's Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna said that EU finance ministers asked the European Commission to make an economic and financial analysis on what the financial impact of the refugee crisis will be and can be.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — EU finance ministers asked the European Commission to analyze financial consequences of the migrant crisis for the budget of each EU member state and the bloc as a whole, Luxembourg's Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna said on Saturday.

"We have asked the [European] Commission to make an economic and financial analysis on what the financial impact of the refugee crisis will be and can be," Gramegna said at a press conference.

The European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development agreed to provide help to EU countries amid migration crisis, according to him.

The European Union is struggling to cope with the refugee crisis, with thousands of undocumented migrants arriving in EU member countries.

On Wednesday, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that about 500,000 people have arrived in Europe since the beginning of 2015.
