11:14 GMT 15.08.2015 (Updated: 11:16 GMT 15.08.2015) At least 40 migrants died aboard a boat in distress in the Mediterranean, the Italian Navy said on its Twitter account Saturday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A rescue operation is underway with many migrants being rescued, the navy added without giving any more details.
According to Italian news agency ANSA, the boat, carrying about 400 migrants, was 21 miles off the coast of Libya.
