PARIS (Sputnik) — French police opened fire on a car that tried to crash through the Tour de France bicycle race safety fences in downtown Paris on Sunday, the French BFMTV television channel reported.
The car traveling at high speed crashed into another vehicle before smashing the protection fences installed on the Place de la Concorde for the final leg of the Tour de France race, according to the broadcaster.
The French police opened fire on the car, but failed to stop the vehicle.
According to the BFMTV, the crash and the shooting caused no casualties.
The police issued a warrant for the arrest of the driver.
