MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The National Democracy (ND) party’s meeting is scheduled to take place at 5:00 p.m. (15:00 GMT) in Prague. Its previous rally, on July 1, to protest the government’s decision to accept the EU’s migrant settlement quota system drew some 750 people, several of whom were detained.
“We call on all citizens of the Czech Republic to show civil disobedience to the government’s policy by all possible legal means,” ND leader Adam Baros said.
“Only by an immediate exit from the EU can we stop the madness of immigration, economic strife and the planned military conflict with Russia,” Baros stressed.
The lawmaker added that “membership in the aggressive NATO pact, drawing Europe into a suicidal military confrontation with Russia” further fuels his party’s call for action.
Last week, the Czech government said it was ready to accept 1,500 of the estimated 40,000 refugees within EU borders on its soil by 2017, with plans to admit some as soon as September.
Minister of the Interior Milan Chovanec said earlier in the week that the number of undocumented migrants in the Czech Republic would amount to 3,500 people this year, a figure expected to double in 2016.
