The issue of federalization of Ukraine may be taken to a referendum, where the people will voice their opposition to the process, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Sunday.

KIEV (Sputnik) — Poroshenko accused Russia of trying to impose federalization on Ukraine.

"Ukraine will not allow this, and, if needed, I will take this issue to a referendum, I will get the support of the people, and the people today are ready to make decisive steps in order for peace to come in Ukraine," Poroshenko said in an interview with Ukraine's 1+1 TV channel.
