Head of the European Council Donald Tusk stressed that the conflict in the eastern parts of Ukraine can be resolved only by peaceful means and in compliance with international law.

The EU and China will help Ukraine to carry out the necessary reforms, Donald Tusk told reporters after the EU-China summit.

"We will discuss foreign policy and the crisis in Syria, Yemen, Libya and the situation in Iraq during a working dinner. The agenda also includes Iran," Tusk said, adding that the situation in Ukraine will be a major topic of discussion as well.

Tusk noted that the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis should take place while respecting Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence.

"It is important to state once again that the conflict in the east of Ukraine can be resolved only by peaceful means and in full conformity with international law […]," Tusk said.

The politician also added that a stable and prosperous Ukraine is in the interest of China and the EU. Therefore, both of them will make every effort to assist in the implementation of required reforms and support the development of the country, the politician said.
