Some 60,000 undocumented immigrants have entered Hungary since the start of 2015, according to official statistics as cited by the UK broadcaster BBC. From January to March, the country received over 30,000 asylum applications, making it the second most popular EU migration destination after Germany.

In an attempt to stop people from entering illegally from south, Orban announced a plan to build a fence on the border with Serbia.

Hungary’s actions have raised concerns in the EU executive body, the European Commission, that called for an immediate explanation.
