German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has warned the parties of the Donbass conflict from escalating the crisis.
"The crisis is still far from settlement. Continuous ceasefire violations pose a threat of new combat actions," Steinmeier said before departing to Kiev.
The minister will visit Ukraine to express Germany’s support to the reforms planned by the Ukrainian government, the German Foreign Minister earlier reported.
According to Steinmeier, Ukraine deserves a chance to fully implement necessary significant reforms.
"They require strong political will as well as active long-term support from the international community," he added.
The German foreign minister is expected to hold talks with Ukrainian officials on Friday. The next day, Steinmeier will visit Dnepropetrovsk where he will meet with representatives of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission.
