Kiev to Inform UN of Its 'Freedom' to Ignore Human Rights in Donbass
KIEV (Sputnik) – Kiev’s decision to renege on its human rights obligations under the United Nations Convention is similar to suicide, Russian children's rights commissioner Pavel Astakhov said Thursday.

“They have committed a ‘humanitarian suicide’ by legally refusing to adhere to the Convention on Human Rights,” Astakhov posted on his Twitter.

Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian parliament approved a legislative act on the country’s regression on human rights violations in eastern Ukraine.

According to an explanatory note accompanying the legislative act, the conduction of "anti-terrorist operations", in particular the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, are not in compliance with Ukraine’s obligations for the protection of human rights.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry was instructed to notify the United Nations of the new legislation.
