Polish authorities made the first payment to Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, who were held and tortured at a secret CIA black site in Poland in early 2000s.
Zubaydah, a Palestinian born in Saudi Arabia, is to receive $148,000 in damages, while al-Nashiri, a Saudi national, will get $114,000, according to a 2014 ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Both men were subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques many consider torture while at a secret US detention facility in Poland. They are currently held in the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba.
