    According to Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, US have allocated close to $25 million to help fund the Ukrainian army.

    KIEV (Sputnik) The United States has allocated close to $25 million to help fund the Ukrainian army, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said at a briefing on Friday.

    “Currently, US financial and technical assistance to the Ukrainian army amounts to about $25 million,” spokesperson Viktoria Kushnir said.

    On Thursday, US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt said, in an interview with Radio Liberty, that US aid to Ukraine stood at about $22 million, a portion of which will be spent on the reconstruction of the areas hardest hit by the conflict in the southeast of the country.

    According to UN figures, the number of casualties in the war-torn Donbas region has surpassed 6,000 people.

    The issue of Ukrainian reconciliation has been discussed in various formats. During the latest meeting of the Contact Group on Ukrainian reconciliation, that took place on Wednesday, the participants formed four working sub-groups and managed to establish specific timelines for their work on resolving the crisis.
