UKIP leader Nigel Farage lost in his constituency of Thanet South coming second after Conservatives candidate Craig Mackinlay in the United Kingdom's general elections.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Nigel Farage has lost in his constituency of Thanet South after garnering 16,026 of the votes against 18,838 by Conservatives Craig Mackinlay in the United Kingdom's general elections.

UKIP managed to secure a greater share of votes, coming second in many constituencies across the UK, but won only in one.

Farage earlier said he would resign as party head if he lost Thanet South.
