NATO Commander Backs US Providing Offensive Weapons to Ukraine
NATO believes that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian Army are not inclined sufficiently to implement reforms, James Appathurai, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs, told to Radio Svoboda.

"The Ukrainian government should speed up and carry out more reforms. Advice and support which we provide would be more effective, if the Defense Ministry and the Army felt like implementing reforms… However they lack readiness for reforms. I am saying it as is," Appathurai said.

According to him, systemic factors are preventing Ukraine from implementing reforms in a proper way.

"I would not say they do not want reforms, but the pace is too slow," the representative underscored.

Earlier, the US Ambassador to Ukraine announced Washington would reveal a $1 billion reform package for Ukraine.
