MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Ukrainian citizen Nadezhda Savchenko, accused and detained in Russia for abetting in the murder of Russian journalists in eastern Ukraine, has been transferred to a civilian hospital in Moscow, a Russian Federal Penitentiary spokeswoman told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
“The accused, Savchenko, was transferred today to the 20th City Hospital [in Moscow] for further observation and developing tactics of further maintenance,” Kristina Belousova said.
She noted that Savchenko’s health is satisfactory and that she began eating again on Monday.

Russian investigative officers claim that Sacvchenko was a fire spotter during a mortar attack near the eastern Ukrainian city of Luhansk on June 17, 2014. As a result of this attack, two Russian journalists, Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin, were fatally wounded.
Savchenko has been in pretrial detention in Russia since summer 2014. In February, a Moscow court ruled to extend her pretrial detention until May 13. While in detention, Savchenko began a hunger strike and reportedly lost eight kilograms in a week.
Last week, the Russian Investigative Committee said that Savchenko’s handwritten notes verify her guilt.
