ROME (Sputnik) — The shooting was reportedly started by a bankruptcy case defendant.
According to media reports, the gunman has been arrested in Vimercate, 25 km from Milan, after fleeing the scene on a motor scooter. He was taken to a local police station.

"The alleged Milan murderer was caught in Vimercate. He is now in police station," the tweet of Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano reads.
The shooter has been identified as Claudio Giardiello.
The incident occurred at about 11 a.m. local time (9:00 GMT) with a quarrel between the suspect and his lawyer. The courthouse is cordoned off and temporarily closed to the public.
People have been evacuated from the courthouse.

One of the victims is reportedly a well-known bankruptsy judge Fernando Ciampi, the second victim is lawyer Lorenzo Alberto Claris Appiani, and the third one is Giorgio Erba, an accomplice in Giardiello's trial. One more person, Davide Limongelli, died in the hospital because of wounds.

Italian news agency ANSA reported that the shooter managed to enter the Palace of Justice because its metal detector was broken.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has been in contact with Interior Minister Angelino Alfano and Justice Minister Andrea Orlando.
