MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Anti-Islam Pegida protesters claimed more than 200 of them turned up for the Saturday rally in central London, but many activists hid from cameras, according to a statement posted on the Pegida UK Facebook page.

On Saturday, Pegida UK held its second ever protest in Britain that was allegedly dwarfed by a counter-demonstration of their opponents. The Unite Against Fascism (UAF), a group that organized the rival rally, said that 70 anti-Islam demonstrators were "outnumbered and humiliated" by over 300 anti-fascists.

The Pegida rally was called to protest immigration and what they refer to as "Islamization" of Europe. Scuffles broke out when riot police tried to break up a "black bloc" by anarchists, The Independent said.

The German-based Pegida movement has been organizing rallies in its home city of Dresden since October 2014 where it managed to attract tens of thousands. The movement has inspired series of anti-immigration protests as far away as Canada.

In the first ever Pegida rally in the United Kingdom in February, some 400 anti-Islamization protesters clashed with thousands of their opponents in the city of Newcastle, in northeastern England.
