On Tuesday, a Germanwings Airbus A320 crashed in Southern France with 144 passengers and six crew members on board.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On March 24, 2015, an Airbus A320 plane crashed in the south of France. The accident occurred in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department. The Germanwings airlines jet was heading from Barcelona to Dusseldorf with 144 passengers and six crew members on board, the air carrier said.

An AirAsia Indonesia Airbus took off from Surabaya on a flight to Singapore on December 28. After less than an hour the pilot requested a change of course and altitude due to weather conditions. He was granted permission to bypass a cloud area but not to elevate to a higher altitude since there were other aircraft in the area at the time. The jet then disappeared from radar screens without sending a distress signal. There were 162 people on board.

2010 Airblue Crash in Pakistan

On July 28, 2010, an Airbus A321 jet flying for the private air company Airblue crashed in Pakistan. The plane was flying from Karachi in southern Pakistan to the nation’s capital Islamabad. When landing under the rainy and foggy conditions the aircraft crashed in a forest near the airport killing all of the 152 people on board including six crew members and seven children.

France Launches Safety Investigation Into Germanwings Airbus A320 Crash
On January 6, 2009 a US Airways Airbus A320 fell into the Hudson River a few minutes after takeoff. The plane was on a regular flight from New York’s La Guardia airport to Charlotte, North Carolina. There were 148 passengers and six crew members on board. According to police reports, all the passengers and the crew survived, although several people were taken to a New York hospital with hypothermia.

2008 Tegucigalpa Crash

On May 30, 2008, flight 390 Airbus A320 from San Salvador to the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa failed to stop after landing and rolled off the runway. It fell 20 meters down onto moving vehicles on a highway and broke into three parts. Five people died, around 80 were taken to local hospitals.

2007 Sao Paulo Crash

On July 17, 2007, a TAM Airlines Airbus А320 skidded off the runway in Sao Paulo airport and crashed into the cargo terminal of ТАМ Airlines killing 199 people.

In the early hours of May 3, 2006, an А320 jet for the Armenian airliner Armavia flying from Yerevan to Sochi fell into the Black Sea as it approached Adler in Russia. All of the 113 people on board died in the accident.

2000 Persian Gulf Crash

On August 3, 2000, a Gulf Air Airbus А320 fell into the Persian Gulf when landing at Bahrain airport. Eight crew and 135 passengers died. The crash was caused by pilot error.

1998 Philippines Crash

On March 22, 1998, an Airbus А320 overshot the runway while landing at Bacolod, Philippines, and crashed into nearby residences. None of the six crew and 121 passengers were wounded. Three people on the ground died. The accident was deemed to have been caused by pilot error.

On January 20, 1992, a French Air Inter А320 crashed in Strasbourg, France. The crew entered the wrong data into the automatic pilot system when landing which caused the jet to crash into a mountain. Five of the six crew members and 82 out of 90 passengers died.

1990 Bangalore Crash

On February 14, 1990, an India Airlines A320 jet crashed in Bangalore airport, India. Due to pilot error, the aircraft crash-landed before reaching the runway killing four of the seven crew and 88 of the 139 passengers on board.
