Anti-Austerity Spanish Party May Win December Parliamentary Election - Poll
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Spanish anti-austerity political party Podemos came in third at parliamentary elections in the country's southern Andalusia autonomous community, local media reported Monday.

An impressive result of 15 seats, or almost 15 percent of the vote for the recently-founded party, came after a Podemos ally, the Syriza party, won the general election in Greece in February.

The Spanish Socialist Workers Party of Andalusia won the election in the region with 35 percent of the ballot, securing 47 seats in the regional parliament. Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s People’s Party secured 33 seats in the parliament, 17 seats less than in the 2012 elections.

Podemos (We Can) is a left-wing Spanish political party founded in 2014. Part of its platform calls for renegotiating unpopular austerity measures intended to help in paying back EU debts more quickly.
