Frankfurt Rallies Unlikely to Cause Review of Austerity Policies– SSP
FRANKFURT (Sputnik) Germany’s parliament, the Bundestag, is set to discuss the recent Blockupy anti-austerity protests in the city of Frankfurt on Thursday, local media reported.

The discussion is set to take place at 2 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT), and German lawmakers are reportedly to decide whether the protesters are to blame for the violence.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Frankfurt on Wednesday, where the new $1.4 billion headquarters of the European Central Bank was set to open, protesting against Eurozone austerity measures.

More than 90 police officers were wounded and over 100 protesters were affected by tear gas during, according to various sources.

Blockupy is a left-wing political group protesting EU austerity policies, particularly those recently imposed on Greece.

The European Central Bank is set to hold a General Council meeting in Frankfurt on Monday.
