Three Danish health workers were sent home from Sierra Leone on suspicions of being infected with the deadly Ebola virus.

Three health workers from Denmark, who were in contact with an American Ebola patient in Sierra Leone, were returned back home Sunday.

An initial examination turned up negative for any signs of Ebola virus infection. All three health workers will be observed for twenty one days.

“None of the three had direct contact with bodily fluids from the American patient and there is therefore a very small risk that they have been infected,” a statement from Central Denmark Region, the Local quoted.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) the number of people killed by the Ebola virus disease in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, the three states most affected, has reached approximately 10,000.
