Announced in March 2014, the EU's sanctions list targeted a total of 22 Ukrainian officials accused of embezzling state funds and illegally transferring the funds outside Ukraine. The EU decided to freeze their assets in the 28-nation bloc.
On March 6, the names of the four men did not appear in the EU's updated list.
These include Alexey Azarov, the son of the former Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov, former presidential advisers Andrey Portnov and Igor Kalinin, as well as former security chief Alexander Yakymenko.
According to the EU, another four people will remain in the list for three months, during which the Ukrainian Prosecutor-General's Office is required to provide more evidence against them.
The sanctions list is scheduled to be updated within 12 months.
It includes ousted Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich, former Ukrainian Security Service head Nikolai Azarov, a former prosecutor-general, a former interior minister, and a former justice minister.
Yanukovich was elected President of Ukraine on February 25, 2010 to serve a five-year term.
He was ousted from power in February, 2014, after months of mass protests, sparked by his decision not to sign an EU association agreement. He fled to Russia, fearing for his life, and is currently wanted in Ukraine on charges of corruption and abuse of power.
