"According to the schedule, they [the armed forces of Ukraine] have started a partial withdrawal of heavy weaponry. The only problem is that the Ukrainian army has no control over private [volunteer] battalions that have heavy weaponry as well. We have no confirmation that they [battalion commanders] followed the orders and started the withdrawal of weaponry," the Luhansk Information Center quoted Vitaly Kiselyov as saying.
He said that the ceasefire "is being observed in full at present throughout the whole area of our responsibility, from east to west."
Earlier this month, the warring sides in eastern Ukraine agreed on a ceasefire, which started on February 15. Under the deal, brokered by leaders of Russia, France and Germany, both parties must now pull out heavy artillery from the line of contact.
Earlier on Tuesday, the eastern Ukrainian self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) deputy commander Eduard Basurin said that the militia had begun the withdrawal of heavy artillery from the front line.
On Sunday, Basurin confirmed that the withdrawal of heavy artillery in eastern Ukraine will be completed within 14 days, counting from February 24.
