“Russia will continue its active participation in the efforts to reach Ukrainian crisis settlement: prompt ceasefire, withdrawal of heavy artillery, solving of humanitarian problems, arrangement of a sustained political dialogue between Kiev and Donbas,” Lavrov said during the Diplomatic Worker's Day celebration.
Russia has repeatedly urged parties to the conflict in Ukraine to seek a peaceful solution to the crisis, and was involved in various intergovernmental negotiations to help solve the crisis in the country.
On Tuesday, a representative from Russia took part in a Contact Group meeting, comprising representatives from Kiev, the self-proclaimed people's republics of Donetsk and Luhansk (DPR and LPR) and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
Following the negotiations, a reconciliation deal was hammered out between the leaders specifying the measures needed to end the military confrontation between Kiev forces and independence supporters in eastern Ukraine.
