The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement on the creation of a joint military brigade, which will include Lithuanian, Polish and Ukrainian military forces.
Ukraine is expected to provide the joint brigade with 545 soldiers, as stated by Deputy Defense Minister Petro Mekhed. Poland and Lithuania will send 3500 and 350 soldiers, respectively.
The command’s headquarters will be located in Lublin (Poland).
In 2009, the three states announced its intention to launch a joint military unit that will be used in peacekeeping missions and serve as a part of the EU military force. In September 2014, the countries signed the relevant protocol on its establishment.
