Unidentified suspects, probably those responsible fot Charlie Hebdo attack, have taken a hostage in France's department of Seine-et-Marne, located east of Paris, reports say.

PARIS, January 9 (Sputnik) — Unidentified suspects have taken a hostage in France's department of Seine-et-Marne, located east of Paris, RTL radio station reported Friday.

Earlier the same day, a shootout took place in the city of Dammartin-en-Goele in the same department. There is currently no information about possible victims and the number of hostages taken.

Charles de Gaulle airport is partially closed as the operation in Dammartin-en-Goele, roughly 8 miles away, continues.

Dammartin-en-Goele is within a half hour drive from the town of Villers-Cotterets, where, presumably, Said and Cherif Kouachi, French nationals of Algerian origin suspected of the attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris, were situated.

The Wednesday attack on the magazine by alleged Islamic extremists claimed the lives of 12 people and injured a further 11. The magazine previously received threats from Islamists for publishing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad. Charlie Hebdo also posted a caricature of the leader of the Islamic State insurgent group on its Twitter account shortly before the attack.
