MOSCOW, December 22 (Sputnik) — London police is investigating reports of five Westminster pedophile rings that allegedly included a number of high-ranking officials, the Sunday Times reported.
“There are at least five pedophile rings which involved MPs,” John Mann, parliament member for the Labour party, was cited as saying by the newspaper on Sunday.
The lawmaker, who has reportedly spent months collecting evidence from members of the public, has presented a list of 22 high-ranking officials to the police for further investigation.
Each of the rings included “at least one MP, some involved more, and these were groups of people who knew about the activities of one another,” Mann stated, adding that “in some cases I believe they committed abuse together.”
The list includes three serving parliament members and three members of the House of Lords, Mann informed.
While refraining from releasing the names of the politicians while the police are conducting its investigations, he stated that 14 of them were members of the Conservative party, five were Labour and three were members of other parties.
According to the lawmaker, some of the people on the list are now dead and some are no longer engaged in politics, though all are “worthy of investigation” and “the evidence against approximately half of them is very compelling”.
He also noted that “three of these figures were highly influential.”
Mann’s statements come days after Scotland Yard announced that it is investigating whether the alleged murders of three young boys decades back could have been related to the so-called Westminster pedophile rings active in the '70s and '80s.
