Parliamentary election voting closed in Moldova at 9 p.m. local time on Sunday.

CHISINAU, November 30 (Sputnik) – Parliamentary election polling stations in Moldova closed at 9 p.m. local time (19:00 GMT) on Sunday.

According to the Central Election Commission of Moldova, as of 6:30 p.m. local time, the voter turnout was 51.02 percent, or 1.43 million people.

The highest turnout of 56.09 percent was registered in the Rezina District, while lowest number of 39.24 percent was registered in the Basarabeasca District.

Some polling stations operating abroad are still open.

Four independent candidates and 21 political parties are participating in the election. The electoral threshold is set at six percent.

The parliamentary election, which allocates all 101 seats in the country's parliament, is held every four years.
