Deputy head of the crisis management center with the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that the eighth Russian humanitarian convoy to Donetsk and Luhansk has successfully returned to Russia.

MOSCOW, November 30 (Sputnik) — The eighth Russian humanitarian convoy to Donetsk and Luhansk has successfully returned to Russia, a Russian Emergencies Ministry official said Sunday.

"All trucks that have delivered the humanitarian cargo have come back from Donbas to the Rostov Region. Customs staff and journalists can confirm it. This stage of providing humanitarian aid, like all previous stages, has been a success," Oleg Voronov, deputy head of the crisis management centre with the Russian Emergencies Ministry, said.

Ukrainian customs staff worked at the border checkpoints, inspecting the trucks and then letting them through.

"Despite heavy snowfalls, the drivers fulfilled their task. They all are well. Vehicles are fine. There were no accidents during the convoy's return," Voronov added.

On Sunday, more than 60 trucks supplied Donetsk with over 800 tons of humanitarian aid, while over 40 trucks delivered more than 400 tons of humanitarian cargo to Luhansk.

The humanitarian convoy was carrying mainly construction materials, as well as food and medications. Voronov said earlier that as soon as the trucks returned to Russia, Moscow would start preparing the ninth humanitarian aid convoy for Donetsk and Luhansk.
