DONETSK, November 6 (RIA Novosti) — The trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine is set to hold a new round of talks on the situation in Donbas next week, Deputy Prime Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told RIA Novosti Thursday.
“The next meeting will take place in a few days, probably next week,” Ravil Khalikov said.
“The negotiations are going slowly, but it is good that they are underway,” he added.
According to the deputy prime minister, the conflicting sides are yet to reach an agreement the disputed Donetsk airport. In addition, the parties have not managed to agree on a demarcation line, Khalikov said.
On Wednesday, representatives from Ukraine, Russia, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Donetsk People’s Republic met for talks in Donetsk. Following the meeting, deputy chief monitor of the OSCE’s Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug stated that the negotiation process is positive, though the sides are yet to reach an agreement on the demarcation line, which is needed in order to create the buffer zone stipulated by the Minsk agreements.
Residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine established people's republics that later declared independence following a February coup in Kiev.
