About 20,000 dead fish and animals, such as mussels, have been found dead on the western coast of Canada's eastern province of Nova Scotia, Canada's government department responsible for Fisheries and Oceans said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The environmental agency added that it was also testing the level of pollution of water and testing for oxygen levels to find out the reasons.

"At Savory Park between Gilbert’s Cove there were approx. 15,000 —20,000 dead herring, a lot of Blue /Red mussels, mostly shells," the department said on its Twitter account on Thursday.

According to the CNN broadcaster, mass fish deaths have been registered in the US state of Florida and China's Hainan province earlier in the year.
